Weekend in Porto, Portugal

Facts

  • Porto is located in the northwest of Portugal.
  • Tiles are very common on the exterior of most buildings.
  • There are more than 10 wineries to choose from in the city.
Stay
We stayed in an apartment in Vila Nova de Gaia - R. do Gen. Torres street, booked through the Airbnb app. The apartment has a spectacular view of the Douro River and Ribeira do Porto. Its location is close to the bus stop but you can walk to many places.

Transportation
We toured the city on foot and with a 3-day train pass for 15 euros.

Food
  • Pasteis de Chaves - Famous for pastry made up of a very thin dough in the shape of a crescent filled with anything you can imagine; from pork to chocolate.

  • Taylor's Port - Tour and wine tastings for 15 euros per person.

  • Letraria Porto - Beer tasting (6 beers for 10 euros) and food for 30 euros.
  • coffee shop - We had breakfast and tried the famous almond tart.

  • Praia dos Ingleses bar - beers, mojitos and appetizers by the sea.

  • Cremosi-Foz - We tried the famous Jesuita dessert and gelato while we waited for the sunset. This dessert is made up of puff pastry sweetened with almonds.
  • Pasta Caffe - We had pasta for dinner and drank sangria for 44 euros.

Tourism
  • We walked a lot to the bridge of stairs or rather, Ponte de Arrábida and we never got there because the GPS direction is not accurate.

  • We took the bus to the beach and the lighthouse ...

  • And to end our day, we watched the beautiful sunset!

We had a short but wonderful time in Porto, Portugal, and having visited in January the temperature was bearable. If you liked my blog, please share with your friends and follow my Facebook page @k1wayticket and Instagram page @onewayticket_k
