1 Day in the City of Love: Paris

Paris is known for many things but mostly for its iconic Eiffel Tower. It is definitely a city to visit as a couple and not a solo destination. Paris has most of the recognizable landmarks in the world and I will give you more information about them below. We moved around the city using public transportation; the daily train pass was just 8 euros per person! Note that rates vary depending on the number of days and zones that you will be moving around.

  • Eiffel Tower - what can I say? Just sitting around Champ de Mars and staring at the beauty of such a stunning monument is enough. But if you want more, you can buy tickets to go up the tower. Price ranges from 11 to 27 euros depending if you want to use stairs or an elevator.

  • Chateau de Versailles - The palace is the former Royal residence. Tickets range from 12 to 20 euros depending on which areas you want to explore.

  • Louvre Museum - museum and historic monument famous for the Mona Lisa work of art. Admission is 17 euros for adults and 18 years old and younger enter for free.

  • Cathédrale Notre Dame - medieval gothic catholic church. Unfortunately, it is temporarily closed since the fire in 2019.

  • Pont des Arts - pedestrian bridge famous for the love locks tourists started to attach in 2008. Unfortunately, they were taken down in 2015 because the bridge couldn't sustain any more weight. There were over a million locks placed, weighing approx. 45 tons.
  • Passerelle Léopold Sédar-Senghor - Now, just 3 bridges down, you will find this footbridge which has also been invaded with lovelocks by tourists. And, of course, we were one of them. There are locals in every corner selling the locks.

  • Arc de Triomphe - one of the most famous monuments in Paris, it is an arc the honors those who fought in the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars. The arc plaza connects 12 avenues! You can imagine the traffic congestion all the time.

  • For macarons, Ladurée and Pierre Hermé Paris, both have multiple locations throughout the city.

  • For food, Chez Georges, Au Pere Tranquille and Bistrot Victoires are all great options for French cuisine.
Extra
  • Mi Ranchito Paisa - Totally unrelated to France but we were craving Latin food and found this gem just minutes away from Cadet metro station. Please note that they close between lunch and dinner (2:30pm-7:00pm). That is very common in Europe.
