Things you should know before traveling to Vietnam:

  • You need to apply for VISA before flying to Vietnam. I recommend doing so month prior to your trip.
  • Verify with your phone provider about an international data plan.
  • Make sure you have a traveler's medical insurance.
  • Download useful apps: Wanderlog, Google Maps, Grab, and Google Translate.
  • Learn about cultural practices to show respect; such as avoiding hugging, and kissing in public.
  • Passport must have 6 months' validity remaining when you enter Vietnam; one page required for entry stamp.
  • Check the temperatures for the dates you are planning to go to dress accordingly.

Day 1

Lodging - We stayed in Val Soleil Hotel in Da Nang. We booked it through Booking.com and messaged the manager for early check-in (11am) which was granted. We used Grab app for taxi rides.

      1. Lunch - We had a delicious and cheapest lunch ever at An Thoi Restaurant. We loved everything! The total for meatball noodles, spring rolls, seafood fried rice, chicken noodle soup, mango smoothie, 2 bottles of water, and a beer was 487,000 VDN ($20 USD).

      2. Spa time - We had a relaxing 1-hour hot stone couple's massage with welcome tea and recover mango and tea at Golden Lotus Spa. Total was about 860,000 VDN ($35 USD).

We took a taxi to Hoi An town which is approximately 45 mins away.

      3. Coconut Basket Boat tour - This was tour about an hour long through the canals of the water coconut forest in the handmade bamboo basket boats. Each basket fits 3-4 people including the tour guide. The tour guide will use a stick to row. You will see locals singing and dancing in the boats throughout the tour. Price was about 120,000 VND per person ($5 USD).

      4. Hoi An night market - famous for the tailor shops,  Thu Bon river activities, shopping souvenirs, and many food options.  We had such a great time immersed in their culture. Please try a coconut coffee and thank me later!

      5. Dinner - we had the Hoi An chicken rice which includes shredded chicken and herbs at Morning Glory Signature. The mojito was delicious too!

Took a taxi back to the hotel.

Day 2

1. Breakfast buffet was included in the hotel rate.

Took a taxi to Sun World Ba Na Hills. Then the longest cable car (25 mins) in the world to the amusement park.

2. Sun World Ba Na Hills - This is a small theme park at the top of a mountain only accessible by a cable car. The panoramic mountain views are stunning and it is colder up there. There are hotels up there too.  Some of the attractions are alpine coaster, a theater, live music and a wax museum.

3. Lunch - We had German and American food right under the food tent at the park.

4. Golden Bridge - Study the park map to find the Golden Bridge. You won't regret it, it is stunning!

Took a taxi back to the hotel.

5. Use the hotel amenities such as the pool bar and pool area. Enjoy the stunning view of the city and the Dragon Bridge

6. Dinner - We had a ton of food options at Au Fusion - Sushi and Steak Pizza. Try their guava juice, so yummy!
